Wadena Real Estate

Wadena is a picturesque city located in Central Minnesota in Wadena and Otter Tail counties. Wadena real estate is known for its strong value and beautiful setting “where the prairie meets the woodlands” in the heart of Minnesota. The city also offers close proximity to nearby cities like Alexandria, Brainerd and Walker as well as Fargo, ND. It is also just a few hours from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and has over 1,000 lakes within 50 miles of its city center.

The city of Wadena boasts quaint single-family homes as well as comfortable townhouses, duplexes and apartments. Homes for sale date from the early half of the 1900s all the way to new construction.  Overall, the city’s real estate market is highly valued with a variety of styles, sizes and price points and enjoys excellent stability and strength, making it a prime option for home buyers looking to invest through homeownership.  The face of Wadena changed, however, on June 17th, 2010 when it was hit by an EF-4 tornado over a mile wide that cut through the town.  It packed winds of up to 170 miles per hour and was on the ground for approximately 10 miles.  The mayor’s wife reported that “houses are half gone”.  More specifically, at least 232 homes were damaged but thankfully no one in the town was killed.  The high school was severely damaged as well.  In true Minnesota style, surrounding communities came to offer any help that they could and the town has rebuilt itself better and stronger than ever.

Wadena offers homes with top-notch amenities. A first-rate, beautiful community by the Whitetail Run Golf Course boasts large, modern homes in a quiet setting amongst its world-class 18-hole championship course for residents to enjoy.

Wadena is proudly served by the Wadena-Deer Creek Public School District, a district noted for its sterling academic reputation and outstanding education professionals. Their new school now offers students a wider variety of classes as well as more technological advances in the classrooms.

The city boasts a flourishing small business community and a diverse economy grounded in sectors like education, government, healthcare and media. Job seekers will find plenty of opportunities in Wadena as well as strong wage growth and a modest cost of living.

Wadena boasts a robust array of attractions and points of interest. These include a bike trail, a top-notch golf course, the Wadena County Historical Society Museum, the Knobhill Sportsman’s Club and the fascinating Murals of Minnesota that can be enjoyed throughout the city.
